24 hours in San Diego | Top things to see on a short trip!

24 hours in San Diego | Top things to see on a short trip!

I was in San Diego for a few days for a conference, but didn’t have much time in between to get out to sightsee.  Below are my favourite places that I was able to visit and that are on my must-see list if you are in town for a short trip yourself!

1. Balboa park

I had to take an Uber as it was a bit too far of a walk from my hotel, but wow was it worth it! It only takes a few minutes of walking around to see that there is so much to explore here. There’s a charming Mexican vibe here with the beautiful and ornate building facades seen in the likes of ‘El Prado’. Get lost here or just come to feed the ducks!

2. Seaport village (USS Midway and Unconditional Surrender Statue)

Wander through the village and also make your way out to see the the USS Midway as well as the Unconditional Surrender Statue (the kissing statue). Stay for awhile to watch some expert kite flyers or listen to the cool Californian music of the buskers. You’re not far from the Gaslamp Quarter, so I’d also recommend passing by there for a bite (or more than a bite) to eat. A staple in San Diego are the rental bikes and scooters, make sure to take one for the ride!

3. La Jolla

It was much colder here than I expected (even in April), the wind was insane, but worth it to venture out to see the sea lions lazying about! I explored along the coastline, made friends with seagulls, squirrels and of course sea lions. I ended up taking a bus here, but I hear it’s a convenient drive if you’ve got a rental car for the day.

If you’ve been to San Diego, I’d love to hear some of your must-see places! Don’t forget – You stay classy San Diego 😉
